     Progress with the EARL

The EARL ProjectStatic tests on the small rocket motors for a 75cm-long test vehicle have gone well and given us a rocket motor we can trust. Flights of the test vehicle are expected in mid to late  January. We are waiting for clear weather at the range where the test will be carried out. Design work for the EARL-D4, now with a 3.0m-long hull, is in progress.

Four static test of the 50kg thrust solid rocket motor for the 75cm quarter-scale test vehicle have been carried out. Small changes in the nozzle design were necessary. The QS vehicle has been glide tested using radio control and a bungee to launch it. It is stable in flight and glides well. It only remains to do a final check of the rocket motors for stability of thrust vector, thrust level and duration, and it will be ready to install in the QS vehicle, after which a  launch will be carried out. The results will be reported on this web site.
